Delegate Monty Mason to run for 1st District Senate Seat

James City County Democratic Committee.  PO Box 2032.  Williamsburg, VA 23185.

Monty Mason is seeking the 1st District State Senate seat that was vacated by the sudden death of Senator John Miller.  The governor has called for a special election to fill the seat, with the primary election on June 14th and a general election concurrent with the presidential election in November.  The 1st District includes portions of the Cities of Newport News, Hampton and Suffolk, all of the City of Williamsburg and parts of York County and James City County.

“Senator Miller was a one-of-a-kind public servant and a great friend,” Delegate Mason said.  “We shared a passion for issues such as education, the environment, economic improvement and bipartisan redistricting.  If I am elected to represent the 1st Senate District I’ll work hard to continue his legacy and to promote our shared vision for the District.”

Leaders on the Peninsula are already announcing their support for Mason.  Delegate Marcia Price, Newport News Mayor McKinley Price, Williamsburg Mayor Clyde Haulman, Newport News Sheriff Gabe Morgan, Newport News Vice Mayor Rob Coleman and James City County Supervisor John McGlennon are all supporting Monty Mason in this race.
